Herald Property Awards
South Kintyre Development Trust were winners at the prestigious Herald Property Awards for Scotland, held at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on Thursday evening (22nd September). Campbeltown Town Hall Project was joint winner of the newly introduced ‘Judges Award’ along with Hub West Scotland for Glasgow Women's Library. As this was a brand new category for 2016, we had to keep the exciting news strictly confidential until the announcement was made on the night.
It is a really special honour to win this first time award for a project that truly shows community regeneration at its best. We are proud we can finally shout about this and now call the Town Hall an 'award-winning venue'. To receive this recognition is great exposure for SKDT and Campbeltown.
Chair of the judging panel, Andrew McFarlane of DM Hall Chartered Surveyors was one of the judges to visit the building back in July and he also presented us with the award on the night. He said:
‘This year saw many high calibre entries across the categories, some with backstories of tenacity and of communities working together which really impressed myself and my fellow judges. Campbeltown Town Hall really stood out and demonstrated how a small community trust has created a catalyst for revitalisation of a whole town centre.’
